History
Originally conceived in 2006, Torfaen Coaching Centre re-established the operations previously undertaken by the then dormant TORFAEN SCHOOLS FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION.
The Coaching Centre initiative was devised and implemented by the Area Football Development Officer, directly supported by the TORFAEN JUNIOR & YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE.
The Centre was specifically designed to provide quality football coaching for all abilities in the local community along with opportunities for young talented players to compete at Welsh Schools Football level, via a Representative Squad route. At that time, neither of these services were available in Torfaen.
The Coaching Centre became fully operational in early 2007, engaging a Centre Director and team of volunteers, delivering weekly coaching sessions to around 40 children. By mid 2008, the Coaching Centre had entered two Representative teams in Welsh Schools FA competition. During 2010/11 THREE Reps Squads (U11's, U12's and U13's) competed and by 2011/12 a total of FOUR Representative teams were fully functional.
Season 2015/16 heralded a new chapter for the centre as our 12's, 14's and 16's participated in the FAW Academy structure, the highest level of regional club football in Wales.
The focus being the "Player at the Centre".
We are also extremely proud of the fact that some current coaches and players from the very first Rep squad are still engaged with us today.
We are equally proud of our coach education programme. "More Coaches, Better Coaches!"

The Future (2018/19)
We will hopefully gain our acceptance to continue in the FAW Academy for our U12, U14 & U16 groups, plus we will have teams operating at U10, U11, U13 & U15's. We have recruited some new and some familiar faces to our coaching team for Season 2018/19.
We have recruited another goalkeeper coach who has returned to our setup after a few years away working with Cardiff City and Newport County.
This season we will also introduce a strength & conditioning coach to our team, who will primarily work with the academy squads, but we will also look to carry out some SAQ sessions with development teams when possible.
We will also continue to support an education pathway fro players post 16 by way of links to Coleg Gwent (see Jack David for further details) plus we are also continuing to work towards a player pathway post 16 with a local Welsh league Team.
Another exciting season awaits........
